Our office team in Uckfield, East Sussex are kept very busy year-round in preparing for Spring Harvest, and administering all the other activities of the Charity including Spring Harvest Holidays, Song Solutions, Essential Christian Resources and Essential Event Management
Much of what we do is made easier by the help of people like you, who by giving of a few hours of your spare time can support our team to help further the work of Essential Christian.
So why not become an “Essential Volunteer”? It can be energising and very rewarding to be part of the team that delivers Christian events, resources and networks, especially when the vision behind what we do is to enable individual Christians and local churches to:
- Encounter God
- Inspire confidence in the good news of Jesus Christ
- Transform people, communities and culture in the power of the Holy Spirit
Becoming an “Essential Volunteer” is a creative and fulfilling way of using your gifts in God’s service and of “giving” generously of your time to Christian ministry.
What might I be involved in?
Two days are never the same at the office, so you could be involved in a variety of different activities, depending on your skills depending on your experience, including:
- Preparing mailings to go out in the post
- Data-entry
- Answering or making telephone calls
- Market Research
- Duplicating Christian teaching onto CDs, DVDs and USB sticks
- Packing CDs/DVDs into cases
- Packing boxes for events
- Loading lorries
- Photocopying, laminating, guillotining
- Proof-reading
- Driving for station pick-ups
- Assisting with catering for meetings
- Office cleaning
- Basic maintenance of company vehicles
- Representing the charity at exhibitions
If your free time extends to more than a few hours a week, you may even have the opportunity to get involved in some aspects of our event work.
What will I receive in return?
In return for the generous giving of your time, we will reimburse your travel expenses to and from the office, up to a maximum of £10 per day, either @25p per mile if you are using your own car, or by reimbursing your return standard-class fare on public transport. Receipts will be required. You will be based in a contemporary air-conditioned office environment on Uckfield’s trading estate, with free tea & coffee, and a lounge area where you can take a break to eat your lunch. You will have the privilege of being part of the prayer-life of Essential Christian, praying for the ministry and for one another as a staff team.
Statement of Faith
Given the nature and context of our Christian ministry, it is expected that you will be in sympathy with The Christian faith and conduct yourself in a manner that upholds the Christian ethos of Essential Christian at all times.
Character References
You will be asked to provide the names of two people who would be willing to give us a character reference in support of your expression of interest in becoming an “Essential Volunteer”. Becoming an “Essential Volunteer” will be dependent on two satisfactory references being received.
How do I apply?
If you have spare time to give, whether a few hours a week, or just the occasional day, then you could become an “Essential Volunteer”.
Please fill out this expression of interest form to tell us a little about your gifts and experience. We will then endeavour to find a suitable opportunity for you and will contact you further
if we feel you might be able to help us as an “Essential Volunteer”. We will then arrange for you to come and meet us face to face so that you can find out more about what will be involved.
